At the request of the Executive Committee of the OHSGCA and with full support of the OHSAA, RANGE FINDERS are now permitted for use in all competitions during regular season and tournament play provided the range finder is not part of a communication device and meets the rules and/or standards set by the U.S.G.A
The USGA distinguishes distance finders (allowed) from devices that assist in determining other conditions that might affect play, such as wind speed and direction or the slopes of the terrain (not allowed). This rule will allow the coach/designee authorized by the Board of Education present at the contest and his/her players to use a range finder during the event. This device should not violate any OHSAA or USGA rules since yardage information is not considered advice and is permitted during an event. The use of any electronic communication devices shall be prohibited on the course during any competition by all players, coaches, and spectators. Note: This would include the ball-finding device - “Scout”. |
