Dress Appropriately
- Ensure that no one is standing close by or in a position to be hit by the club or the ball when they make a stroke or practice swing.
- Do not play until the players in front are out of range.
- Shout "fore" if there is a danger of hitting someone.
Consideration for Other Players: No Disturbance or Distraction
- No unnecessary noise or movement (You should not be talking or moving around while other players or hitting).
- Electronic devices should not distract other players (No cell phones: make sure they are turned off!!!)
- On the teeing ground: tee only when it is your turn.
On the Putting Green:
- Do not cast a shadow over another's line of putt.
- Do not walk in the line of their putt.
- Remain on or close to the putting green until all players in the group have holed out.
Pace of Play:
- Play at Good Pace and Keep Up (Use your ‘golf walk’ to get to the ball quickly, then take your time and prepare for the shot).
- Be Ready to Play: When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green. (you can deal with strokes on the way or at the next tee box.
- Lost Ball: If a player's ball is lost outside a water hazard, then play a provisional ball. (Also, help other players look for their ball if you are nearby)
- Flagstick: When everyone is on the green, make sure to remove the flagstick if you are the nearby. If you have completed the hole, be near the flagstick so it can be placed back in the hole immediately after others are finished.
Care of the Course
- Bunkers: Before leaving a bunker, players should carefully fill up and smooth (rake) over all holes and footprints made.
- Repair of Divots, Ball-Marks and Damage by Shoes.
- Do not lean on clubs when on the putting green, particularly when removing the ball from the hole.
- Replace flagstick properly.
Dress Appropriately
- High School Golf attire usually consists of a short sleeve golf shirt accompanied by golf shorts/slacks and golf shoes.
- Cutoffs, jeans, and t-shirts should simply be avoided as they are seldom welcome on a golf course. This includes at practice. If you have a question, ask your coaches.
